THE THIRD UNIQUE TYPE OF READER YOU SHOULD KNOW

THE THIRD UNIQUE TYPE OF READER YOU SHOULD KNOW

by Uzoma Uduma / Wednesday, 30 September 2020 / Published in Uncategorized

Sometimes, we feel like buying some items but our purses do not necessarily comply. So we resolve to ‘window shopping’.

We get to the shop or supermarket and we stand outside, behind the windows, and feed our eyes – looking at the beautiful items on display.

We only want to look – maybe admire – and then move on.

So why am I talking about window shopping in this post that is supposed to be talking about a specific type of reader?

Well, the idea of window shopping is similar to the behaviour of the type of readers I am revealing in this post.

Aha! Kudos to those of you who put in the effort to guess the name of these types of readers, in my last post. I had so much fun reading them all.

Right! Time for the announcement of results! LOL. Remember I hinted that it starts with letter ‘t’ and ends with letter ‘t’…

Ladies and gentlemen, help me welcome…

Drumrollllllllll…

3. The Title Magnet

These readers are either drawn into or drawn away from your writing, following its title. They size you and your writing up by checking the title first.

Is it catchy?

Is it appetising?

Is it luring?

Is it irresistible?

Is it promising?

Now going back to window shopping, have there been some times when you had no intention of buying something but you ended up buying something anyway? I bet there have!

And same here! I can’t begin to count how many times that has happened to me! I end up buying something I didn’t set out to buy! Oh, dear!

But let’s think about that for a moment though… what makes us buy things we didn’t originally intend to buy? Were we lured? Was the item irresistible?

Exactly! That’s what your titles can do to your readers! The Title Magnet Readers are like those shoppers that end up buying something they didn’t intend to buy.

But that’s only because they have been hooked by your title and can’t wait to read the rest of your writing piece.

Take a look at these two titles below:

Title 1: You should buy this chair.

Title 2: Keep fit and live longer – buy this chair!

You already know which of the titles will attract our Title Magnets, right?

You got it…Title 2, of course!

It is luring, isn’t it?

There must be something about that chair that can make you live long while keeping fit! You definitely want to read the content of Title 2 to find out!

So, you see the power of titles?

How to write for Title Magnets:

This is very simple – Use killer-titles!

Most readers are window shopping. However, when they come across your writing, they should halt, change their mind and start reading.

Warning!

Don’t make the mistake of hooking these readers’ attention with your killer-title and then leave them disappointed with the rest of your writing!

You will lose them permanently – okay maybe not – but it would be hard to get them hooked again.

Catchy titles are not only meant to draw readers to your platform for the sake of attention, they are also meant to sustain. You catch your readers with your magnetic titles and you sustain them with the rest of your writing.

Next on the agenda…

…is that I am done with this post.

Hahaha…what did you expect? I got you there, right?

So by now, you know that I absolutely love reading your comments, so let me know your thoughts and reflections in the comment section.

What do you think about Title Magnet Readers? Is it easy to write for them? Why or why not? Would you say you have been writing intentionally for these readers?

Alright, I’ll talk to you shortly in the next post…maybe we will also have a toast.
